In the area surrounding the city is a resort called 'Six Miles' situated inland about 10 km from the city centre. There is an artificial swimming lagoon complete with islands as well as pedal boats for hire.

Accommodation

Visitors coming from Maputo may assume that the choice of accommodation is somewhat limited but in fact, in Beira there are plenty of places to choose from. There is Hotel Mozambique with its elagant lounge and bar area, along with Kanga's Bar at the Hotel Embaixador, are the best in Beira. The Hotel Embaixador is the choice of many business travellers owing to its proximity to the business area. Campers and budget travellers are also well catered for in the choice of accommodation.

Restaurants, bars and cafes

Seafood is what you should seek out when you eat out in Beira. It is always fresh and served well. Portuguese cuisine is on the menu of most restaurants in Beira but if you're looking for something different, the Macuti Complex restaurant, which serves Chinese food, is highly recommended.
