A Honeymoon Getaway For Sure

The one inescapabable thing about tropical islands is the romance factor. Don't let a honeymoon be the only reason for visiting Mozambiques Indian Ocean paradise. Make up an excuse, be in love. Pack your bags and elope. Life may nor be sunshine all the time, but in Mozambique, it will feel like it is.

More than a walk on the beach...

The Bazaruto Marine Reserve is Mozambique's most famous national park and the islands are focussed on luxury tourism, the revenue of which is used in various marine ecology conservation projects. The Bazaruto Archipelago comprises four main islands - Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque and Santa Carolina, the largest island of which is Bazaruto Island. The island has several fresh water lakes inhabited by crocodiles, exotic butterflies and many species of bird. The island itself is home to some 125 different bird species.

Benguerra Island, to the south, like Bazaruto, offers snorkelling, diving and fishing, as well non-motorised water activities like dhow cruises, sea kayaking and island tours during a holiday in Mozambique.

Quilalea Island is situated in the southern sector of Quirimbas Archipelago. This marine sanctuary is fringed with golden beaches and provides an idyllic hideaway from the modern world during Mozambique holidays.

The marine sanctuary is the first protected area in the archipelago, and spans 500 000 hectares around the island. Turtles make regular appearances on the beach, Dugongs can be spotted frolicking in the sea grass meadows and Humpback Whales swim peacefully in the channel, nesting their young. Marine life is dominant in this area, with a total of 375 different fish species recorded to date.
